This course will take a Feminist, Queer, and Post-Colonial approach to the study of nineteenth century Gothic literature.
We will also examine how a sample of our texts are represented in film and webseries.
Required text: Mary Shelley, Frankenstein, Penguin Classics, 2003 (edited & intro Maurice Hindle).
Further texts will be made available on MOODLE, includiing:
Edgar Allen Poe, The Tell-Tale Heart, Charlotte Perkins Gilman, The Yellow Wallpaper,
and Joseph Sheridan le Fanu, Carmilla.
